Welcome
to Philip Perry's Website
The central theme of this website is Music: focusing in particular on Methods and Models for the analysis of tonal music*; in addition to which there are MIDI files to download and free sheet music in PDF format in the Rosebay Archives - links below.
Journey to the Heart of Music
An introduction to articles and essays describing a general relational model which can be applied to tonal music. Essentially the model reduces harmony to a form of number processing. A link from the contents section of this introductory document provides access to an (abridged) first article: 'Harmony and Mutable Numbers' (PDF format) -- outlining the mutable base positional number system and its application to harmonic analysis.
Using AWK and Perl to Search for Patterns in Music
Information and scripts for analysing music, plus a script to alphabetically sort an HTML catalogue or list.
Rosebay Music Archive I
Download free music scores for keyboard, piano and sax/clarinet and baroque solo sonata ensemble, in PDF and MIDI format; and read about how the 'reflection' of a piece of music creates another new 'companion' piece.
Rosebay Bass Recorder Music Archive
Download free music scores for BASS RECORDER (or other melody instruments)
in PDF format.
RISC OS/Acorn Printing and Music Score Writing
Freeware PCLinfo printing utility, plus information on PCL (Hewlett Packard Printer Control Language).
* A good proportion of the music, information, ideas and opinions to be found on this site are of a highly speculative, experimental and exploratory character, though at times challenging, I hope you will be able to find something worthwhile amongst the dross.
